The Weekender: How to Dress for a City Hall Wedding

This wedding season we've been noticing lots of brides foregoing a big event in favor of an old-fashioned trip to City Hall. Those kind of me-and-my-sweetie affairs leave plenty of room for playful wedding fashion. So for this installment of The Weekender, we've outfitted you for an intimate summer ceremony in a look that splits the difference between vintage charm and modern fun. You supply something old and borrowed, we've got your new and blue.

Style tips:
One of the biggest tips for budget wedding fashion? Don't buy a wedding gown. Summertime provides innumerable opportunities for finding great white dresses. You can also get most bridesmaids dresses in white. Once you cut out the term "bridal gown," chances are you'll be shelling out less cash. And people generally won't be the wiser.
The cut of this dress has a mod feel but the Battenberg lace makes it feel timeless.
Another big wedding trend that we've been noticing? Colored shoes. These elegant pumps are an ideal way to tick off your "something blue." We've also included some baby-blue Chuck-Ts in case you wanna ditch the heels when it's time to celebrate.
When you go for a short dress, you have to be sure to pick a headpiece that won't overpower it. Embellished elastic headbands are a great choice. Or if you're a bit more adventurous, you can go for a fascinator with a short simple veil. Better yet, see if you can borrow one from Mom or Grandma.
